Caitlyn Jenner Gets Emotional at Her Renaming Ceremony, Thanks New Family
Reality star Caitlyn Jenner broke down for a few reasons in the series finale of her docu-series “I Am Cait,” which aired on Sunday.
One of the most emotional moments from the finale was Caitlyn's renaming ceremony, during which she cried while thanking her supportive transgender friends. She said, "I feel at home and I have a family. The last few months for me have been the most amazing months of my life. It has been an amazing journey, and I'm seeing all of it come true. I'm in a great place in life and, for the first time, I feel like I fit in some place. Being my authentic self."
"I am blessed in so many ways, and at this point in my life I feel so unbelievably comfortable with the decisions I have made. I see so much love and support it's just absolutely unbelievable. The transgender community — this is my place, and this is where I belong. And it's a good feeling," she added.
The finale started by focusing on the tearful confrontation between Kris Jenner and Caitlyn, who was upset that she wasn't invited to her daughter Kylie's high school graduation. Caitlyn told Kris, "For 15 years of my life, I carpooled kids every day. Some days, I spent three or four hours a day in the car. [It's] a slap in the face when you don't even get invited to their graduation.”
Kris also shared why she was hurt by Caitlyn. "It's very difficult to hear when you feel like you gave your whole life to somebody, that the sum of it all was: 'You were a distraction.' So that killed me."
Despite their disagreements, Caitlyn had a positive outlook on their relationship. She shared, "The key is to have patience. Keep love in your heart and stay committed to the goal, and I am really hopeful that Kris and I can do that.”
Caitlyn closed the final episode of the series by saying to the cameras, "I want to help people in my community. We have a long way to go, but at least we got a really, really, really good beginning. And that makes my heart feel good."
