Ryan Reynolds Dishes on ‘Deadpool 2,’ Plus: Why He Helped Teen Girl Get Revenge on Ex
Ryan Reynold is teaming up with Samuel L. Jackson for his newest film, “The Hitman's Bodyguard.”
Along with promoting the movie, Ryan Reynolds also chatted with “Extra's” Renee Bargh about working with Josh Brolin in “Deadpool 2.” Josh recently showed off his ripped physique for his role as Cable on social media. Ryan quipped, “Yeah, I'm actually worried about him.” He added, “Josh's arms are the size of my torso!”
When Renee told him that T.J. Miller, who also stars in the sequel, said Josh was going kick his butt in the movie, Reynolds replied, “He is, he actually already has. T.J. is misinformed. All last week. Actually last night.” The 40-year-old joked that he was still feeling the effects, saying, “A little rough, to be honest with you. You don't want to be on the business end of a Josh Brolin punch!”
Reynolds also opened up about coming to the aid of a heartbroken teen on Twitter. The girl, Gabi Dunn, showcased her Photoshop skills by replacing her newly ex-boyfriend from a prom photo with the Hollywood star and tweeting at Ryan, who replied, "We should Photoshop me over his yearbook picture next. #DontMessWithGabi." He commented, “You gotta take care of your own, Canadian girl.” Speaking of his own little girl, Reynolds said, “My daughter hacked the NSA and she's two!”
In “The Hitman's Bodyguard," Ryan plays a special protection agent who is tasked with guarding the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world's most notorious hitmen, played by Jackson. The duo has plenty of on-screen chemistry, about which Jackson shared, “We knew each other socially, but never got a chance to hang out like that. But we know each other socially and it was a mutual admiration society; always wanted to do something with him.”
Ryan chimed in, “I was dying to do something with him, too.”
Both agreed it was “instant chemistry” when they worked together. Jackson explained, “The real fun stuff for us happens in the car [scene]. We started having these conversations and they evolved and evolved into what you see on screen.”
