Mary Pat Gleason of 'Mom' Dead at 70
Mary Pat Gleason, the comic actress whose character was recently killed off on the series "Mom," died June 2 at 70. The cause was cancer.
Gleason's death was first reported by her "Mom" co-star Mimi Kennedy, who tweeted, "I'm saddened to learn that Mary Pat Gleason (Mary on @MomCBS) passed away. From her nephew 'Her curtain closed at 10:20 Tuesday evening.' I'm sure she was met with Thunderous applause and a great party backstage. My love to you Mary and to your loved ones."

View StoryWith nearly 200 credits to her name, Gleason was a familiar presence on TV and in films. On stage in recent years, she had tackled the subject of her bipolar disorder in the one-woman show "Stopping Traffic."
Gleason was born on February 23, 1950, in Lake City, Minnesota, and got her start in local theater. She made her TV debut in 1980, and could be seen on such hit series as "Full House" (1987), "Mama's Family" (1988), "Murphy Brown" (1989), "Murder, She Wrote" (1991), and "Friends" (1994), among many others.
She won a Daytime Emmy for her work on the soap "Guiding Light" (1983), and expanded her reach as Mary on "Mom" (2014-2019). Among her final credits were "Sierra Burgess Is a Total Loser" (2018) and the College Humor series "WTF 101" (2019).
