Pulitzer Prize-Winning Playwright Edward Albee Dead at 88
Edward Albee, the playwright whose "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" was made into the classic 1966 film starring Elizabeth Tayor and Richard Burton, has died at his home on Long Island, New York, Variety reports. He was 88.
Albee won the Pulitzer Prize for his acclaimed plays "A Delicate Balance" (1966) "Seascape" (1974) and "Three Tall Women" (1990). His other successes include "The Play About the Baby" (1998) and "The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?" (2002), both Pulitzer finalists.
USA Today reports that before undergoing surgery several years ago, Albee wrote a note he wanted published at the time of his death. It read, "To all of you who have made my being alive so wonderful, so exciting and so full, my thanks and all my love."
