Wentworth Miller Comes Out in Letter to Russian Film Festival
“Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller announced he was gay in an emotional letter to the St. Petersburg Int'l Film Festival.
The festival asked Miller to attend, but in his response, he wrote, “… as a gay man, I must decline. I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.”
Following the release of his letter, Neil Patrick Harris, Rose McGowan and more stars voiced their support on Twitter.
The handsome actor is best known for his role as Michael Scofield in the FOX show “Prison Break.”
He'll be starring in an upcoming drama called “The Loft,” with James Marsden and Keith Urban.
