Jennifer Hudson Gets Real About Learning a British Accent for ‘Cats’
Last night, “Extra's” Mark Wright caught up backstage with “The Voice” coach Jennifer Hudson as she was preparing for the hit competition series' live show with the Top 11 contestants.
Joined by fellow coach Blake Shelton, they discussed Mark's British accent, leading Mark to ask Jennifer if she needed dialect lessons when she coaches on “The Voice UK,” she answered, “No, but I'm getting ready to do the film 'Cats,' so I have to have a British accent.”
The Academy Award-winning actress and singer will be playing the iconic role of Grizabella in the movie version of the hit Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway musical, which also stars Taylor Swift and James Corden.
Is she having an easy time with the accent? Jennifer responded, “No! No!” adding, “I'll get there.”
Jennifer and Blake also opened up about their previous jobs before hitting it big!
Hudson shared, “I had a job at Burger King. I used to sing at the drive-thru.”
“The Voice” airs Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC.
