Christina Aguilera Dishes on Her Racy Las Vegas Residency: ‘Anything Goes’
Singer Christina Aguilera is headed to Las Vegas!
“Extra's” Renee Bargh caught up with Aguilera, who dished all about her residency, “The Xperience,” which will kick off from the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood May 31 and run for 16 shows.
The singer, with a hit-packed career spanning two decades with songs like “Genie in a Bottle” and “Dirrty,” hinted that the show could get a little X-rated. She said, “Depending on my mood each night, we'll see… I love being free, anything goes onstage.”
“I want it to become the audience's opportunity to escape into a world where they can either take off the mask that you have to wear every day at your job… or you can put a mask on and be whoever you to want for one night,” Christina emphasized.
Christina noted that a Vegas residency has been in the cards for a while, but her recent Liberation tour kicked it into high gear. She explained, “It's kind of been loosely talked about for a number of years now, but after the success of the Liberaton tour, it was like, 'Okay, this makes sense,' and it had to be a family fit, and it is — it feels really, really good now.”
Her kids Max and Summer will be back and forth to Las Vegas since “Mom will be up in that stage.”
The 38-year-old revealed that her kids would get mad when she didn't bring them onstage during the Liberation tour, which was the first time she had toured in a decade. She explained, “It's in the blood, it's in the family blood… My daughter, even though she's shy, she'd be, like, really upset, like, 'I wanted to go onstage tonight, Mom!' And then there's my son, who wanted to do like, Fortnite, dances up on stage.”
Christina also raved about Max's vocals, saying, “My son has amazing pitch! When I hear him sing, I'm like, 'You need to do that more often.'"
When Renee gave a set suggestion for the song “Unless It's with You,” involving Christina's fiancé Matt Rutler and a wedding chapel, she smiled, saying, “You know, thank you, I'm gathering all the information, taking notes on the actual set list — that's a great idea.”
Aguilera joked, “I might get — what's that called when you're an officiate? —catch me at a local wedding chapel.”
While she may not be planning a wedding soon, Christina is planning a trip to Las Vegas to see some of the other shows. She shared, “I've been trying to plan a girls' night for so long… I have to go check out the sights, the sounds, the shows.”
