Wife of Eagles Member Randy Meisner Dies in Freak Accident
Over the weekend, Eagles member Randy Meisner faced an unexpected tragedy after his wife Lana Rae Meisner accidentally shot herself dead.
LAPD Detective Gus Barrientos told the New York Post, “There was an accidental discharge of the firearm. It was completely accidental, there is nothing indicative of a murder, homicide or a suicide. It's a weird accident, that's all I can say. There was absolutely no struggle, just a freak accident.”
Before she reportedly shot herself in a closet at their Studio City house, Lana had called the cops in the late afternoon on Sunday to report domestic violence at the home. An hour and a half later, Randy called 911 to reveal that Lana had been shot. TMZ reports that she claimed he was waving a BB gun around and “acting erratically."
Randy was apparently in a different part of the home when the shot was fired, but he was taken to the hospital for “acting in an altered state.”
The couple have reportedly had a shaky relationship in the past. Randy's friend James Newton accused Lana of keeping him in a “state of near-constant inebriation” to control him and spend his royalties, according to TMZ. Early last year, Randy and Lana looked happy while speaking on camera about their relationship. Watch!
In a conservatorship court battle last year, it was revealed that Randy had threatened to kill everyone with an AK-47 during a Encino hospital stay.
