Salma Hayek on Manchester Terror Attack: ‘My Daughter Would Have Been in That Concert’
On Monday, actress Salma Hayek got emotional while speaking about the terrorist attack at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester.
Hayek revealed that her daughter Valentina is a big fan of Ariana's music and could have been one of the casualties if the concert had taken place in London. Salma said during a Cannes Film Festival Q&A, "If it was in London, this concert, my daughter would have been in that concert. It's her favorite singer. My daughter's nine. She would have been there, with or without me. This is one of the reasons why I have not slept.” Watch.
"I'm terrified and I don't know what to say to my daughter. And I'm not going to pretend that I'm sorted out, that I'm very smart about it, because I'm still emotionally impacted,” Hayek went on.
Along with Salma, many stars in New York and Los Angeles spoke to "Extra" about the attack, which killed at least 22 concertgoers, injuring 59.
At the “DWTS” semi-finals last night, Fifth Harmony star Normani Kordel, who performed at that very arena just last year, told "Extra's" Renee Bargh, “It's pretty tragic, you know, especially, because these are things we can never really prepare for. I was in the makeup chair getting ready, about to walk on, and I saw it on my timeline and it's just very unfortunate and it's very sad... I'm praying for the people that were affected and also their families.”
"Extra's" AJ Calloway broke the sad news to Priyanka Chopra and Zac Efron at a special screening of their film "Baywatch" in NYC. Priyanka shared, "You wake up every morning and you read things in the newspaper, and you watch the news, and we get so desensitized to everything that happens because there's something new that happens... but this is not what the world should be. It's not. It's not okay on any level.”
Zac added, "I'm really sorry. My heart goes out to them. I'm sorry, Ariana, and everyone.”
Cher and Harry Styles and other stars went on social media to weigh in on the tragedy.
