Author and Neurologist Oliver Sacks Dies at 82
A few months after announcing he had terminal cancer, prominent author and neurologist Oliver Sacks has succumbed to the disease. He was 82.
Sacks, a professor at New York University of Medicine, Columbia University, and the University of Warwick, reached millions with his writing, notably with "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" (1985) and "Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain" (2007). His 1973 book "Awakenings" was adapted into the Oscar-nominated Robin Williams/Robert De Niro film by director Penny Marshall in 1990.
