Vanessa Bryant's Heartbreaking Tribute to Gianna on Her 14th Birthday
On Friday, Kobe Bryant's widow Vanessa remembered their daughter Gianna on what would have been her 14th birthday.
Vanessa posted a pic of Gianna, writing on Instagram, "Happy 14th Birthday to my sweet baby girl, Gianna. Mommy loves you more than I can ever show you. You are part of MY SOUL forever. I miss you so much everyday. I wish I could wake up and have you here with me. I miss your smile, your hugs and your giggles. I miss EVERYTHING about YOU, Gigi. I LOVE YOU so much!!!!!!! ❤️🎉🎂🎉❤️."

In another post, Vanessa explained how people can honor Gianna on her birthday. She wrote on Instagram, "Gianna loved to wear a red bow in all of her school pictures. Red means love and life. To commemorate Gigi's birthday today, please consider wearing red, caption an act of kindness or show how you will play Gigi's way since she always gave everything she did her all and led with kindness. ❤️Please use the hashtag #PlayGigisWay ❤️Thank you. 5-1-06 Mambacita."

Kobe and Vanessa's oldest daughter Natalia also shared a photo with her younger sister. She wrote on Instagram, "Happy 14th Birthday Gigi! ❤️ I miss your smile everyday but I know you're always smiling down on us from heaven with daddy.I LOVE YOU. 👼."

Last month, Vanessa celebrated Gianna, who was an honorary pick at the 2020 WNBA Draft. She wrote on Instagram, “I'm so proud of you, Gigi. God I miss you baby. You deserved to live a long, healthy and happy life. I wish I could hold you and tell you how proud I am of you. You're the best, baby girl. Mommy loves and misses you more than I could ever express. ❤️ @WNBA #2 Gianna 'Gigi' Bryant Youngest draft pick ❤️🏀My 'mambacita' a.k.a. Wings.”
It was recently announced that Vanessa will play a major role in picking the recipient of the Kobe & Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy Award every year, which she will also present. The award will recognize someone who has significantly contributed to the visibility and advancement of women's and girls' basketball at all levels.
In January, Kobe and Gianna perished in a helicopter crash with seven others. They were on their way to a basketball game in Calabasas.
