Video! See the Moment That Model Fell on the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
Last night, the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show aired on CBS!
One of the headline-making moments came when model Ming Xi tripped over her sheer cape and fell on the runaway in her hometown of Shanghai.
Despite falling to her knees, Xi was still about to smile for the cameras as fellow model Gizele Oliveira helped her back on her feet.
The mishap happened as “Hamilton” star Leslie Odom Jr. was singing a cover of Sara Bareilles' “Winter Song.” He told the cameras, “Happens to the best of them. Sometimes we fall; we get back up. Fall down seven times, get up eight.”
After she went backstage, Xi was unable to hold back her tears. The cameras caught the model crying, with fellow models trying to comfort her. A source told E! News, “Ming was really upset when she fell on the runway. It was a hard fall. She got up as gracefully as she could. She was shaken up after that fall. All the models made her feel better after, though. She is okay now."
Ming acknowledged her fall on Instagram, writing, “I fell during my 5th year walking at the Victoria's Secret show yesterday. It was no doubt one of the hardest moments I have ever had to go through in my career, especially since the show was taking place in my hometown, in front of my mother's and my people's eyes. However, the support I received from everyone yesterday was incredible and I am truly grateful to everyone who was there for me.”
She also showed her appreciation to Gizele, saying, “Thank you for helping me up after the fall, it was a very selfless and loving act from you.”
Of the fall, Gizele recently told Elle magazine, “You just act without thinking. I was walking slower for her to get up but when you fall you always act in different ways. I saw she wasn't getting up, and the first thing I thought was to help her up since she had wings and a long dress plus high knee boots was hard to get up herself. I literally just did what I would love someone to do it for me!"
