Olivia Newton-John's Sister Rona Dies at 70
Rona Newton-John, older sister of Olivia Newton-John, died on May 24 in Los Angeles after suffering from a brain tumor. She was 70.
Olivia posted a touching message on her Facebook page, saying, "It was May 25th in Australia - which was our mother Irene's birthday. Rona died of a very aggressive brain tumor and mercifully suffered no pain.”
The “Grease” star continued, “She was surrounded by the love of her four children - Fiona, Brett, Tottie and Emerson and her wonderful friends. I will miss her forever - my beautiful, smart, talented, funny, brave sister Rona."
In lieu of flowers, Olivia, who survived cancer 20 years ago, is asking for donations to the ONJCWC, where a wellness program will be started in her sister's name.
Rona was an actress in the 1960s and 1970s, best known for her small roles in "The Benny Hill Show," "UFO" and "Brotherly Love." She reportedly met her first husband, Jeff Conaway, on the set of “Grease.” She later wed producer Brian Goldsmith, but the marriage ended in divorce.
