Jennifer Aniston & Reese Witherspoon Reunite for 'The Morning Show' — All the Dish!

If there is one person who can get Jennifer Aniston back on TV, it's Reese Witherspoon!

Jennifer and Reese chatted with “Extra's” Renee Bargh all about Aniston's return to TV on the Apple TV+ series "The Morning Show."

On the show, Jennifer plays an anchor and Reese a field reporter who are entrenched in the morning-TV wars. The actresses are producing the show, years after working together on "Friends." Reese played Jennifer's character's youngest sister on the classic sitcom.

Reese said of their new venture, “Really fun characters," while Jennifer noted, "Just to see how far we have come in 20 years."

The timing of the show is certainly in synch with the recent headlines regarding Matt Lauer and the #MeToo movement, with many making comparisons between Steve Carell's anchor character and Lauer. Reese asserted, "No, this isn't Matt Lauer; this is an amalgam of, unfortunately, a lot of different people... As we chose to make a fictional show, it's about a lot of characters that it's been exposed there is an abuse of power." She summed it all up by saying, "I don't think it's one person."

Jennifer added, "We had to honor what was happening out in the world and not ignore it. Also, it was really important to us as a creative team to be clear and unified on what the tone of that was, not make it sort of a sob story."

Jen spoke to several real-life morning news anchors to prepare for her role, saying, "Across the board, they all said how they cannot get used to waking up when that alarm goes off and it is just dreadful. So what makes them keep doing it? The love of what they do... different rituals of each of them in the mornings... so many different details, just character stuff... It's incredible what was tolerated."

Reese pointed out "The Morning Show" is tackling a variety of issues. "There's all kinds of things in there," she said. "There's sexism, there's racism, there's homophobia — there's all kinds of issues. There's ageism."

Jennifer said she is not personally worried about ageism in Hollywood, noting, "I feel like I have worked more since I turned 40 than I ever did, and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon."

Reese added, "The younger generation of women won't put up with what we put up with."

Since "The Morning Show" is already greenlit for Season 2, can they hint at what's to come?

Aniston teased, "It's going to be really good."
