‘Dog Whisperer’ Cesar Millan Reveals Suicide Attempt
A few years ago, life came crashing down on “Dog Whisperer” Cesar Millan. He was in such despair he tried to commit suicide.
Cesar has revealed details of his depressed state in a new TV documentary about his life. He says it started in 2010 when his beloved pit bull, Daddy, passed away and wife, Ilusion, filed for divorce. He felt like he'd lost everything and that's when he decided to take his own life with an overdose.
"It was hard, because I wasn't expecting it," he told E! News of his divorce. "I went into a big depression. I lost a lot of weight. And I felt that I lost the most important thing, which was my family."
Millan survived the overdose and went on to take control of his life through exercise and work. He even fell in love again and plans to propose to girlfriend Jahira Dar once he has a chance to ask her parents for her hand in marriage.
"I know they are going to say yes, but I like the whole Cinderella story," he said.
"Cesar Millan: The Real Story" premieres on the Nat Geo Wild channel on Nov. 25.
