What Sarah Jessica Parker Just Said About Kim Cattrall Might Surprise You
Sarah Jessica Parker is addressing the controversy surrounding “Sex and the City” and her former co-star Kim Cattrall.
Parker and Cattrall both made headlines after “Sex and the City 3” was shelved.
Sarah told us in September, “It's over… we're not doing it,” adding, “I'm disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It's not just disappointing that we don't get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”
The following month, Kim sat down with Piers Morgan and slammed rumors that the project was canceled over her demands, insisting she never wanted to do the third film. She also called her relationship with the “SATC” team “toxic.”
Now, Sarah is addressing those comments, telling People there was never a feud or fight between them.
“I never responded to the conversation Kim had with Piers Morgan, where she said things that were really hurtful about me,” Parker said. “We had this experience and it was amazing, and nothing will ever be like it. We had a connection with an audience, and we had a connection with the city and with this crew, and we got to tell these crazy stories with each other. So I don't want to mess with that.”
She continued, “I couldn't imagine anyone else playing that part. So there was no fight; it was completely fabricated, because I actually never responded. And I won't, because she needed to say what she needed to say, and that is her privilege.”
Earlier this month, Kim's brother passed away and Parker shared her support on social media, as well as telling “Extra,” “We all send her our love and condolences and grant her the privacy that she's asked for.”
Although Kim did thank her fans, friends and "Sex and the City" colleagues for their outpouring of support, she later made it clear how she feels about Sarah. Cattrall shared an image on Instagram with the statement; “I don't need your love and support at this tragic time @SarahJessicaParker.”
Parker has not addressed the Instagram post, but a source told the magazine that “when Kim's brother went missing, Sarah called and texted Kim privately offering her support. When asked about her brother's passing on a red carpet, Sarah conveyed again her condolences and love.”
