Why Britney Spears Reportedly Checked Into a Mental Health Facility
Singer Britney Spears is taking care of her mental health.
TMZ reports Spears checked into a mental health facility a week ago, where she will stay for thirty days. A source told the site that she has been distraught over her dad's health.
Spears' father Jamie, who has undergone two surgeries on his intestines and colon, is suffering complications from the most recent one.
On Wednesday, Britney posted a quote on Instagram, which read, “Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit.” She captioned the post, “We all need to take time for a little 'me time.' :).”
Her boyfriend Sam Asghari reposted the message, writing in the caption, "It isn't weakness, It's a sign of absolute strength, people should only be inspired by this, at least I am ♥️ #stronger"
Later, Spears' mother Lynn shared an inspirational Instagram that said, "Keep going no matter how bad things are right now, no matter how stuck you feel, no matter how many days you've spent crying, no matter how many days you've spent wishing things were different, no matter how hopeless and depressed you feel—I promise you won't feel this way forever. Keep going."
A source told People magazine, “Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her. He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He's not doing well. They're so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her — she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.”
Britney Spears Postpones Las Vegas Residency Indefinitely
View StoryEarlier this year, Britney announced that she was taking a break from work to care for her father. She tweeted, “I don't even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I've been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart.”
She emphasized, “However, it's important to always put your family first… and that's the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We're all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him.”
Jamie is the sole conservator of her estate after her lawyer Andrew Wallet resigned.
