Carrie Ann Inaba: 'I'm So Grateful' to Andy Dick for Helping Me Mourn
It has been an emotional season for “Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba. “Extra” special correspondent Toni Dovolani recently caught up with Inaba, who opened up about the pain of losing her father, and the split from her fiancé.
Carrie was brought to tears on live television during a dance that Andy Dick dedicated to his daughter. She explained, “My father passed away the Thursday before the premiere show, and it was sudden and unexpected. Although he had been sick for a long time and it was really hard… my dad was a fighter, I could kind of feel his presence and it got me through the first couple shows.”
She continued, “When Andy Dick did that performance, I don’t know what happened, it just tore something right open. All the unexpressed tears came out and I’m so grateful to him, he gave me a moment to feel free to mourn my father and celebrate the love he had for his daughter.”
Inaba also discussed her breakup with Jessie Sloane, “I am single now… it didn't work out for us. We are still very close… I am looking for my true love; true love finds you.”
For now, Carrie has found fulfillment through helping animals with the Carrie Ann Inaba Animal Project. She said “raising money for animals and helping with rescue and emergency funding” has been so “rewarding.”
To help the cause, Carrie is auctioning off a “DWTS” package, including four tickets to the May 21, 2014 finale, a backstage experience before the show, and a post-show dinner with Inaba. Visit Charitybuzz.com through May 7, 2014 to bid.
