Michael Keaton Says There’s Still Hope for a ‘Beetlejuice’ Sequel
“Birdman” star Michel Keaton was nominated for his first Academy Award for his role in the acclaimed dark comedy, and he talked to “Extra” after being honored with the prestigious Modern Master Awards at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Keaton said, “The response from everyone's been so great, to go through everything and work hard, work as hard as I did on this movie, all the years I've put into being recognized. It means a lot to me.”
The actor also revealed there is still hope for a sequel to his 1988 hit “Beetlejuice.” He said, “It's the one thing I've wanted to do for a long, long time… look, people either want to do it or not do it, you know? [Director] Tim Burton gets busy, then I get busy, so it's hard to say when the two of us can come together. I really only want to do it with him, if he's involved in some way, hopefully as the director, that'd be the best. We'll see.”
As for any good luck rituals for Sunday's Oscars, Keaton said, “Other than dropping to my knees and being grateful, no, that's it!”
