'Battlestar Galactica’ Star Richard Hatch Dead at 71

"Battlestar Galactica” star Richard Hatch has died at the age of 71, TMZ reports.

The actor, best known for his role as Captain Apollo, had pancreatic cancer and was in hospice for the last few weeks.

Hatch began his career in 1971 with the long-running soap “All My Children,” later joining "Battlestar Galactica” in 1978 and receiving a Golden Globe nomination. He also guest-starred on many TV shows, including “Fantasy Island,” “The Love Boat” and “MacGyver."

In 2004, Hatch returned to the reboot of "Battlestar Galactica" as Tom Zarek.

Actor/composer friend Bear McCreary tweeted, "I share tragic news with a heavy heart. Richard Hatch is no longer with us. Goodbye Tom Zarek / Apollo #SoSayWeAll. I will have more to say about Richard Hatch and what he meant to my life and career. But for now, I'm still processing all this…"
