Justin Timberlake Still Mourning Prince’s Death: ‘I’m Definitely Gonna Miss Him'
Superstars Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick are taking over Cannes while promoting their new animated movie "Trolls."
Earlier today, the duo sat down with “Extra's” AJ Calloway after serenading the crowd yesterday with a rendition of Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors."
Justin is not only voicing the character Branch for the film, he is also creating new music for the soundtrack, including his single “Can't Stop the Feeling,” which is already a hit. He also recorded duets with both Gwen Stefani and Ariana Grande, but it is the impact of Prince that still has him emotional. JT penned a heartfelt tribute to the music icon, who was found dead at his Minneapolis studio in April, telling AJ, “I tried to explain it the best I could… He's our greatest living musician… It's hard to put into words how I can feel about it but I'm definitely gonna miss him.”

Timberlake continued, “Amazing person and hilarious. I think that's other part that when he was comfortable around people, he would kind of let that cat out of the bag. Prince just hit you with the best joke ever. He was like the godfather that we all wanted to impress. If you got one compliment from him, you're just like, 'Can't tell me nothin', all y'all can't tell me nothin'.' He obviously meant a lot to me and still does.”
Aside from Prince, Timberlake's son, 13-month-old Silas, also means a lot to him. Justin is thrilled Silas will eventually see “Trolls” and listen to the music he created for it. “I'd be not telling the whole truth if I didn't say that it was a little bit of serendipity to have a child now and go, like, 'Wow'… You hear about actors that are parents, yeah, that say, 'I'm so excited, I did an animated film, my kids can go and see the movie' and you're like, 'Okay, now I really get it' — and that's really exciting.”
The 35-year old, who called the movie “amazing,” is playing opposite Kendrick, the voice of Princess Poppy. This is the first Cannes for Anna, who dished on her favorite moment so far, saying, “We saw Catherine Deneuve last night… as close as I should probably ever get 'cause I would probably just fall on the floor if she got so close to me.” Justin chimed in, "I think that probably takes the cake, especially in Cannes.” Anna added, "She did, like, a full-on Adrien Brody kiss to the host and then just walked off stage.”
“Trolls” in theaters November 4.
