Shock Split: Nikki Bella & John Cena Call It Quits

In a bittersweet Instagram post, Nikki Bella and John Cena informed their followers that they have decided to call off their engagement — and to go their separate ways.

"After much contemplation and 6 years of being together Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple," the simple statement read. "While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."

The couple had been inseparable right through the release of Cena's hit film "Blockers," making the split all the more out of the blue. They even attended WrestleMania on April 8. Cena had proposed to Bella a year ago at WrestleMania after dating since 2012.

In what may have been a hint of things to come, Cena told Us Weekly recently, “Relationships are hard. Don't ever think that love is easy. Love is beautiful, but we've had to come to the realization after being together for five years that love is not easy."

A source recently told People magazine that Bella is "devastated" by the split, adding, "This was supposed to be the happiest time of her life."

Less than two weeks before their split, "Extra's" Renee Bargh caught up with John and Nikki at the "Blockers" premiere in Hollywood, where they gushed about each other. Watch!
