Is Katy Perry Throwing Shade at Taylor Swift in New Diss Track?
On Thursday, Katy Perry released a brand-new song, “Swish Swish,” featuring Nicki Minaj.
After the track dropped, many fans speculated that the song was about Taylor Swift. In the song, Katy mentions a sheep, which was part of her 2014 tweet after Taylor opened up on her song "Bad Blood," inspired by a pop star, who “tried to sabotage an entire arena tour” by hiring some of her backup dancers. At the time, Katy referenced a line from “Mean Girls,” tweeting, "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing.”
Katy recently shut down rumors that Swift inspired some of her new music, telling Entertainment Weekly, "There is no one thing that's calling out any one person. One thing to note is: You can't mistake kindness for weakness and don't come for me. Anyone. Anyone. Anyone.”
After hearing “Swish Swish,” Taylor's friend Ruby Rose slammed Katy on Twitter. The “Orange Is the New Black” actress said, "Purposeful poop' to 'bomb a petit' to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda..stop trying to make 'Wit..I mean 'fetch' happen. I just think with everything going on in the world to go from rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low.. is.. A bummer.”
Katy is set to release her new album “Witness” June 9.
