Serena Williams Says Talking About Postpartum Depression Shouldn't Be Taboo
Serena Williams and sister Venus stepped out in NYC for the Palace Invitational Badminton Tournament and Citi Taste of Tennis.
“Extra's” AJ Calloway caught up with new mom Serena, who recently revealed she suffered postpartum depression after daughter Alexis Olympia was born September 1, 2017.
Serena explained, “It is really important to talk about, it's like a subject that's kind of taboo and I feel like it shouldn't be, it happens to all of us, the best and the worst... so let's bring out the best in all of us.”
The tennis champ also gushed over Alexis, her daughter with husband Alexis Ohanian. “She's going to be 1 soon, I am excited about that and I'm looking forward to it,” Williams said.
Serena was wearing her own fashion line, and dished about the new collection inspired by her friend, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
“We sent her our royal collection,” she said. “We were inspired by her, I am not sure if she should wear it or not. We can't make this and not send it to Meghan.”
She added about her line, "I do mostly all the designs. I went to fashion school for this. So this is another thing I've done for years."
Serena was getting ready to play some badminton with sister Venus! "I remember playing badminton when I was really young. We had it at our house… I am hoping that I can remember how to play… we used to have fun, we used to love it."
