Ne-Yo & Crystal Smith Split
Singer Ne-Yo and wife Crystal Smith have called it quits after nearly four years together.
After weeks of split rumors, Ne-Yo confirmed the news on an episode of “Private Talk with Alexis Texas” on Saturday, saying, “It's slowly but surely becoming public knowledge that myself and my wife have decided to go ahead and get a divorce.”
“It's not a sad thing, it's more of us realizing — long story short, I'm never gonna talk bad about her. I'm not that person. There's nothing bad to say about her. She's a fantastic woman. She's the mother of my children and she's always gonna be that and I will always respect her,” he added. “Long story short, she's got demons just like everybody else, just like me. We realize that our demons don't mesh and until both of us get a hold of our personal demons, it's gonna be just difficult for us to stay married.”
Ne-Yo stressed, “With that being said, that's that, that's the end of that chapter, not the end of the book. Like I said, that's the mother of my kids and I love her to death. We're going to be family forever.”
The 40-year-old also revealed that their split inspired his new single “Pinky Ring.” He said, “The song is not a diss to her, the song is not about her. The song is about how I chose to handle the situation, the way that I chose to lift myself up and keep moving, as we all must do."
Rumors started swirling about their breakup after Crystal stopped following him on Instagram. She also deleted photos of him from her account.
To fuel more rumors, Crystal recently posted a solo photo from their wedding, writing on Instagram, “It takes grace to remain kind in cruel situations..and you can't buy that.”
He was also spotted wearing his wedding ring on his pinky finger
Ne-Yo popped the question to Crystal in 2015. They got married the following year, just a month before welcoming their son Shaffer. They became parents again when their son Roman was born in 2018.
