Celebrities React to Prince’s Death

News just broke about Prince's sudden death, and celebrities are already mourning him on social media.

Blake Shelton, Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, and Samuel L. Jackson are just some of the big names to tweet about his passing. Blake said, "Dang it... Truly hate hearing we lost Prince. Sad day..”

President Obama added on Facebook, "Today, the world lost a creative icon. Michelle and I join millions of fans from around the world in mourning the sudden death of Prince. Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent. As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all. Funk. R&B. Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer. 'A strong spirit transcends rules,' Prince once said -- and nobody's spirit was stronger, bolder, or more creative. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his band, and all who loved him."

Prince's former wife Mayte Garcia told People, "I can't even think of the words of what I'm feeling. This man was my everything, we had a family. I am beyond deeply saddened and devastated. I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now."

"Twin Peaks" actress Sherilyn Fenn, who also dated Prince in the 1980s, said in a statement, "Prince inspired me. He changedmy life. I will miss him greatly. There will only ever be one Prince."

Carmen Electra, who was his former protege and ex-girlfriend, told E! News, "I'm in shock. This is so sad. He always talked about life, not death. He was excited about music. But, back then he talked a lot about God, but not about religion. Prince was like a god. Maybe that's why I'm so shocked he's passed away."

Prince was found dead at his home and recording studio in Minnesota earlier today. Though the cause of Prince's death is unknown, an investigation is underway.
