Sean Penn Dodges Question About Engagement to Charlize Theron

All the big stars turned out for Sean Penn's 4th annual Help Haiti Home Gala in L.A. this weekend, including Penn's girlfriend, Charlize Theron.

The couple walked the red carpet together, and Penn stopped to speak with “Extra's” Jerry Penacoli, who had to ask the big question: Did Sean ask Charlize to marry him over the holidays?

Sean played coy. “I can't even say things out loud,” adding, “I just hate looking at people on television talking about their relationships.”

Penacoli commented on how happy Penn looked. The actor smiled, “I can't imagine why… she and I have been very, very longtime friends. We hit a speed bump and must have lost our minds, so here we are.”

The Oscar winner is also pleased about the proceeds his Haitian relief organization has raised. “We're really moving into a good stage. The country still has great challenges economically, but the psychological recovery as well as the direct effect of the disaster recovery from the earthquake has really been extraordinary.”
