Heartbreaking Details from Inside Kate Spade’s Funeral
Hundreds of family and friends gathered at a church in Kansas City on Thursday to remember Kate Spade, 55, who committed suicide earlier this month.
The fashion designer's husband Andy Spade, brother-in-law David Spade and niece Rachel Brosnahan were among the mourners, but Kate's 13-year-old daughter Frances Beatrix was reportedly too upset to attend.
It has been a difficult time for the family. Kate's father Earl F. Brosnahan Jr. (Frank) passed away on Wednesday.
At the service, Andy delivered the eulogy, and sources told RadarOnline.com, “He cried throughout the entire thing.”
He told the crowd, “Kate had no idea how much she was loved. She had so many friends, family and fans that loved her and she just didn't know it.”
The mogul, who co-founded the Kate Spade brand, went on to share, “Katie and I shared everything; a life, a beautiful little girl who couldn't make it today because she is just too torn up to do much of anything right now. [Katie and I] traveled to New York together after graduation and I thought I'd be some kind of assistant in Real Estate, we had no idea that we'd live the life that we did.”
