Celebrities React to Roseanne Barr
Celebrities are continuing to react to ABC's decision to pull the plug on its #1 show after Roseanne Barr's racist tweet about President Obama's former advisor Valerie Jarrett.
On Tuesday, “Extra's” Tanika Ray spoke to “America's Got Talent” host Tyra Banks, who wasn't shy about her reaction. At Universal Studios Hollywood, Tyra said, “It was beyond racist... That went to a place that was worse than worse, and I think that it's so beautiful with the speed of which the firing happened. It's unprecedented and I think it's the new normal, for it to happen that fast. And for it to be about what's right, over what's profitable.”
Across the country, “Extra's” AJ Calloway caught up with “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen at the American Songbook Gala, where he weighed in on the cancellation. Cohen commented, “They had to do it. They did the right thing. It's really sad when you think about all those actors and crew who are out of work.”
At the “This is Us” Emmy FYC event in Los Angeles, cast member Milo Ventimiglia told “Extra's” Mark Wright, “It's surprising to me that people still have the view in life like what she has. I applaud Disney and the bosses over there to say, 'No, we're not okay with that. That behavior is wrong.' And I applaud them for canceling the show. I feel bad for the crew, that's unfortunate, but at the same time, there has to be a line drawn.”
“This is Us” star Chrissy Metz emphasized, “Treat people the way you want to be treated. That's the bottom line. All that matters in life is how we treat one another. It's unacceptable to treat people disrespectfully. It's unfortunate that people are so affected by what she said and are now out of jobs because of it. It's terrible.”
