More Sad Details on George Michael’s Shocking Death
Days after his shocking passing, George Michael's boyfriend Fadi Fawaz is opening up about the superstar's death.
In his first interview since Michael's death, Fawaz, a celebrity hairstylist, told The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday, "We were supposed to be going for Christmas lunch. I went 'round there to wake him up and he was just gone, lying peacefully in bed.”
Though Michael's manager said that he died from heart failure, Fadi commented, "We don't know what happened yet."
Fawaz, who had dated George since 2011, went on, "Everything had been very complicated recently, but George was looking forward to Christmas, and so was I. Now everything is ruined. I want people to remember him the way he was. He was a beautiful person.”
Though Fawaz didn't reveal exactly what was "complicated," another source claimed that George was battling an addiction to heroin, saying, "He's been rushed to A&E on several occasions. He used heroin. I think it's amazing he's lasted as long as he has.”
Before the interview, Fawaz tweeted on Monday, "ITs a xmas i will never forget finding your partner dead peacefully in bed first thing in the morning.. I will never stop missing you xx."
George's ex-boyfriend Kenny Goss also mourned the death, telling E! News, "I'm heartbroken with the news that my dear friend and long-time love George Michael has passed. He was a major part of my life and I loved him very, very much. He was an extremely kind and generous man. The beautiful memories and music he brought to the world will always be an important part of my life and those who also loved and admired him.”
George was loved by many, but he reportedly spent his final days at his home in Gorin. A neighbor told People magazine, “I think he was a bit of a recluse. He had put on a lot of weight and hardly ever left the house. Occasionally, I think he would pop to the local pub, but he wasn't exactly a regular in any of the pubs or restaurants there.”
The neighbor continued, “His boyfriend would sometimes go to the cafe opposite his house to pick up food, but never George himself. I have never seen him.”
Many fans have visited Michael's country home and his residence in London's Highgate neighborhood to pay tribute with flowers, candles and letters.
