Casey Anthony Breaks Silence About Her Daughter’s Death

Nine years after her daughter's mysterious death, Casey Anthony is still insisting she doesn't know anything about how her Caylee died.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Anthony said, "I'm still not even certain as I stand here today about what happened.”

Anthony's daughter Caylee, 2, was last seen alive on June 15, 2008, but she wasn't reported missing — by Casey's mother — until July 16 of that year. Months later, the skeletal remains of Caylee were found near her home. Though Casey was acquitted of first-degree murder in 2011, some still question her, and she doesn't blame them. She explained, "Based off what was in the media, I understand the reasons people feel about me. I understand why people have the opinions that they do.”

Though Casey was found not guilty of murder, she was convicted on four counts of lying to the police, but two were later dropped. She argued, "Even if I would've told them everything that I told to the psychologist, I hate to say this but I firmly believe I would have been in the same place. Because cops believe other cops. Cops tend to victimize the victims. I understand now... I see why I was treated the way I was even had I been completely truthful.”

Anthony would go on to serve three years in prison while awaiting trial. "My sentence was doled out long before there was a verdict. Sentence first, verdict afterward. People found me guilty long before I had my day in court."

"Cops lie to people every day. I'm just one of the unfortunate idiots who admitted they lied,” the 30-year-old continued. "My dad was a cop, you can read into that what you want to."

Despite all the criticism, Anthony is able to live her life, commenting, "I don't give a sh*t about what anyone thinks about me. I don't care about that. I never will. I'm okay with myself. I sleep pretty good at night.”
