Emily Blunt on Baby Daughter Violet and Those Pop Star Rumors
“Extra's” Terri Seymour recently sat down with actress Emily Blunt, who opened up about motherhood, her recent dinner date with the Damons and Chelsea Clinton, as well as setting the record straight on rumors she was set to become the next Britney Spears.
While promoting her new thriller, “The Girl on the Train,” she dished on her baby daughter Violet with husband John Krasinski. Emily said the baby is “doing really well.” She added, “Well, I wonder if it's the second kid, you're so relaxed, and then they're relaxed – your energy is not like, 'Oh my god, am I gonna kill this child by something that I'm doing?'”
Emily and John's first child, Hazel, is also settling into her new role as big sister. Emily gushed, “She's doing brilliantly, she's very kind to her.”
Blunt already looks like she got her pre-baby body back, three months after giving birth. She smiled, “Good pair of Spanx and some good genetics.”
She reiterated, "I do come from a family of very thin people, to the point where my mum got cornered when we were kids and they were like, 'Do you feed your kids, Mrs. Blunt?'”
Her family recently made the move from Los Angeles to New York, and Emily is loving their new lifestyle, even enjoying a date night out with famous friends Matt Damon and wife Luciana as well as Chelsea Clinton and husband Marc. She dished, “It was a good night… we love Mexican food, it was awesome.”
The 33-year old also addressed rumors she was going to be the next Britney Spears. She commented, “The story has been blown completely out of proportion.” Emily clarified, “I was approached by somebody when I was in school and they said, 'You can sing. You should record a couple of demos,' and I did, and then I got cold feet and I pulled out because I was scared… it wasn't what I wanted to do and I didn't want to be, like, a pop singer.”
When Terri said, “Britney Spears… they are saying specifically,” Emily smirked, “Please! Nobody can out-Britney Britney.”
In her highly anticipated movie based on the best-selling book, Emily is playing a divorced alcoholic whose marriage falls apart after a struggle with infertility. Her character, Rachel, eventually becomes obsessed with a young couple she sees from the train on her daily commute, and when the woman disappears, Rachel becomes a person of interest, a dark role for the British beauty.
“It was incredibly challenging this part, it was discovering new depths, it's a mindset that's a frightening place to be… she's obsessive, unhappy and sad… she's afraid of herself.”
“The Girl on the Train” hits theaters October 7th.
