Jimmy Kimmel Talks Gun Control, Plus: His Reaction to Gigi Hadid & Tyler Cameron
Jimmy Kimmel is weighing in on the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton.
The late-night host opened up about how he feels, telling “Extra's” Renee Bargh, “The country belongs to the citizens, not the politicians, and in a lot of ways it's our own fault that we haven't insisted that change be made, and hopefully it will be.”
“It's not a Republican vs. Democrat thing,” Kimmel emphasized about the importance of gun control. “Almost everyone agrees that — including the President has said, before he got reeled in — that we should have background checks, and of course we should.”
Jimmy has a new show, “Generation Gap,” with Mark Burnett, who many believe had a hand in getting President Trump elected after Trump's work with him on “Celebrity Apprentice.” Kimmel has confronted the television titan, noting, “I lambasted him at the Emmys.” He smiled, pointing out, “Well, listen if Mark Burnett had powers like that, I guess I'll be the next president.”
Kimmel is also a huge fan of “The Bachelor," joking, “If I devoted all the hours I've devoted to 'The Bachelor' and the various franchises, I could speak six languages by now.”
He's not caught up on all the headlines, though. When asked about the romance rumors surrounding Tyler Cameron and Gigi Hadid, he said, “I didn't know that. I swear to God.”
Tyler Cameron & Gigi Hadid Hang Out — Days After His Overnight Date with Hannah B
View StoryTyler and Gigi were linked just days after Tyler was spotted spending the night at Hannah's apartment in Los Angeles. Almost distraught over the news, Kimmel added, “But I saw him coming out of her... ugh!” He laughed, remarking, “It's almost like none of this is real.”
What is real — his Emmy nominations. Jimmy is nominated for his late-night show as well as for “Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear's All in the Family and The Jeffersons" special. He commented, “It is exciting. Especially doing these specials, because it's like I'm reliving my youth in a spectacular way.”
Jimmy and Norman will be doing two more live, classic-TV specials, but he is keeping the details under wraps. He explained, “I can't. I wish I could. We will. We'll give people advance notice. It won't be like the night-of, where we're like, 'Hey, by the way this is what it is…' There may be a holiday theme. That is as much as I can give you.”
