The Official Princess Charlotte Christening Pics, and How the Event Honored Diana
July 5 was a momentous day for the United Kingdom as 2-month-old Princess Charlotte was christened at The Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Sandringham.
Official royal photos of the event were just released to the public. The palace issued a formal statement saying, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their whole family had a wonderful day on Sunday and were delighted to share the special occasion with the thousands of people who came to Sandringham. They are very happy to share these photographs and hope that everyone enjoys them as much as they do."
Photographer Mario Testino was one of Princess Diana's favorites and even took the last official photos of her that appeared in Vanity Fair. Many have noted that Prince William chose him in her honor.
Writer Richard Kay of The Daily Mail speculated, “From the church to the godparents, Princess Charlotte's christening was so perfect, Diana must have planned every step.”
A royal source told People, “The whole day had a happy family feel. It was a celebration.”

The Princess was dressed in a lace christening gown, designed to resemble the gown that Queen Victoria commissioned to be made for her daughter's christening in 1841.
Charlotte's brother, Prince George, who turns 2 this month, was dressed in a Rachel Riley outfit with a white decorated shirt and red pants. The outfit was very similar to what William wore in 1984 for his brother Harry's christening.
