Report: Harrison Ford Has Surgery Following Plane Crash
Actor Harrison Ford was “banged up” after crash-landing his WWII-era plane onto a golf course in L.A. on Thursday, and now reports say it was quite serious.
Family sources told KTLA that Ford underwent surgery to repair a broken pelvis and ankle. He also suffered from lacerations on his face and arms.
The 72-year-old's rep released a statement on Thursday: "Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today which had engine trouble upon take off. He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. He is banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care. The injuries sustained are not life threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery."
Yesterday, Ford's son Ben tweeted, “At the hospital. Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man.”
The action star, who is an experienced pilot, is being praised for his emergency golf-course landing because he narrowly avoiding hitting nearby homes.

An eyewitness told NY Daily News, “I'm sure there was a moment where he said, 'I'm not going to risk lives, whatever happens, happens. It's going to be just me. He risked life and limb by putting it down on the golf course instead of trying to go further to try to get back to the airport.”
Christian Fry of the Santa Monica Airport Associated added, “I would say that this is an absolutely beautifully executed -- what we would call -- a forced or emergency landing, by an unbelievably well-trained pilot.”
Last June, Ford broke his leg in a set mishap while filming “Star Wars: Episode 7 – The Force Awakens,” which hits theatres in December.
