Tarek & Christina El Moussa Tell All About Their Split on Competing TV Shows
On Tuesday morning, “Flip or Flop” Stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa made separate TV appearances on competing networks to discuss their split!
Tarek opened up on their failing marriage, telling “Today's" Joe Fryer, "As time went on, we got distant from each other. There's a lot going on in our lives," he said. "We tried the counseling and it just really wasn't working.”
In December, Tarek and Christina announced their split after a bizarre altercation in May. In a police report, the Orange County Sheriff Department noted that they received “a call of possibly suicidal male with a gun.” Tarek explained it was all "blown out of proportion.” He commented, “There's mountain lions and bobcats and rattlesnakes and big wildlife back there. I went up for a hike to scout some trails. It wasn't a big deal. I didn't understand.” Watch!
When asked if he was “suicidal,” he responded, "Absolutely never.”
Asked about the future of their HGTV show, Tarek revealed, "I'm not going to say it's easy. It's like anything. There's challenges in life. We love filming. That's our job. We've been doing it a long time. We love releasing a good product for our fans and just had to fight through it and do the best we could and I think it turned out great.”
During the interview, Tarek also revealed that he was battling testicular cancer at the time of his split. He is currently in remission and came out with the cancer revelation to raise awareness. He battled thyroid cancer in 2013.
While Tarek was speaking on “Today,” Christina sat down with “Good Morning America.” She said about the numerous rumors, "There's a lot of false stories and a lot of hype, but in the end we're just normal, nice people who just want to be the best parents and coworkers that we can be.”
Christina expressed the same sentiments as Tarek about filming, saying, "We have so much fun on set and we look forward to continuing the show. We met at work, so we worked together before we ever started dating.”
In the new issue of People magazine, Christina revealed that the troubles begin after they welcomed their son Brayden. She returned to work on the show just four weeks after giving birth. She shared, "It was too soon for me. I was overwhelmed. The tension between me and Tarek was high. We weren't able to properly communicate anymore. It got to the point where we weren't even driving to set together.”
Christina is rumored to be dating Gary Anderson, but how does Tarek feel about her moving on? She said, “Tarek and I don't discuss each other's personal lives. It is what it is and we are going through a divorce and eventually we will be dating other people. I'm happy for him and whatever steps he takes in his life and I just hope he's happy.”
