What You Didn’t See When Donald Trump Made His ‘Days of Our Lives’ Cameo
By now, everyone has heard the disturbing audio of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's lewd conversation with Billy Bush. “Extra” was on the set of “Days of Our Lives" that same day for Trump's cameo on the soap opera, and has uncovered the footage you haven't seen, revealing what happened when Billy left that day in September 2005.
When “Extra's” cameras started rolling, neither soap star Arianne Zucker nor anyone on the “Extra” crew were aware of the exchange between Billy and Donald. Arianne took Trump to the makeup room, where he was greeted by fellow “Days of Our Lives” star, Deidre Hall. After the two embraced, Deidre complimented Trump, saying, “You look fabulous.” Trump responded, “No, you look fabulous.” As they shared a friendly kiss, Deidre said, “Thanks for joining the show.” Trump said of Hall, "She's an old friend of mine,” and Hall explained, “We're friends from when our children were babies and David and Tiffany were little toddlers growing up together and we just got close then.” Hall added, “He's the loveliest man.” The soap vet also showed “Extra's” cameras the custom basket of chocolates she got for him, complete with an engraved ribbon. Donald reacted by saying, “That's so cute. 'Deidre loves The Donald.' How about that?”
Trump played himself on the hit soap opera, sharing a scene with Arianne. Moments after shooting the scene, Trump posed for a photo with Zucker and her then-husband, actor Kyle Lowder. He then went on to give “Extra” a play-by-play of his day on set. “You have to hit those lines properly, otherwise, you're out of business, right?” Donald asked. Arianne smiled, “That's right — you're fired! Am I allowed to say that?” Trump replied, “Yeah.” Arianne laughed, “Okay.” As the two they said their good-byes, Arianne said, “I'm gonna sneak out.” Trump said, “Bye, baby.”
And that was a wrap… until now.
Trump has publicly apologized for what he said privately that day about Arianne. The 42-year-old actress spoke out on social media, tweeting, “I am a strong, independent, hard working mother, business woman and partner to a great man. I have grown to learn that the words of others cannot effect the value of my self worth or define the content of my character. How we treat one another, whether behind closed doors, locker rooms or face to face, should be done with kindness, dignity and respect.”
“Unfortunately, there are too many people in power who abuse their position and disregard these simple principles and are rewarded for it,” she continued. “In understanding the magnitude of this situation, I choose to stand tall with self-respect and use my voice to enrich, inspire and elevate the best of who we are as people.”
