Sandra Lee: ‘So Happy’ to Be Home After Double Mastectomy Surgery
Celebrity chef Sandra Lee has returned home to recover following a double mastectomy last week, and is “so happy” and “excited to sleep in her own bed,” according to her Facebook page.
Lee's partner of 10 years, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, anther sister Kimber joined her at her Lily Pond, NY home.
Lee's team has been updating fans via Facebook with recent posts featuring pics of the couple cuddling on the couch after a long week in the hospital. “There is no place like home!” one post said, while another featured their white umbrella cockatoo Phoenix with the caption, “He wanted to cuddle, cuddle and cuddle!”

On Sunday, her team gave an update and thanked several people for reaching out and taking the time to send flowers, fruits, chocolates, notes and email, including Robin Roberts, Elton John, David Furnish, Rita Wilson, Christina Applegate, Jon Bon Jovi, Judith Light, Martha Stewart, Mario Batali, Bryant and Hillary Gumbel, Jane Fonda and Dr. Oz.
The Food Network star underwent the surgery six days ago, nearly two months her diagnosis. In March, doctors told Lee that they found cancer in her right breast after a routine mammogram. She was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), the most common type of non-invasive breast cancer. DCIS isn't life-threatening, but having DCIS can increase the risk of later developing an invasive breast cancer.
