Carrie Underwood Teams Up with Sporting Goods Foundation to Help Girls’ Sports Teams

Carrie Underwood used her fitness and lifestyle brand CALIA by Carrie Underwood to partner with DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation to offer a $100,000 “Sports Matter” grant to support girls' youth and high school sports teams in the Houston area.

“I definitely hope that the donations that DICK'S Sporting Goods' 'Sports Matter' program and CALIA get to make obviously impact the girls that we are giving the money to immediately,” Carrie wished. “I hope they get new equipment and they just get the things that they need to be able to keep doing what they're doing and love it and get better and learn those life lessons and that they'll carry [it] with them for the rest of their lives.”

“I also hope that other people will take notice and realize that sports are important,” she added.

Girls' sports teams in the Houston Aldine Independent School District benefited from the grant at the grand opening of a new DICK'S Sporting Goods store at the Baybrook Mall.

“I am so honored to partner with The DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation as we continue to give back to girls sports teams across the country,” Underwood said about the gift to female youth and their coaches. “Through today's donation, we aim to support the girls' athletic programs in Houston, providing many girls with the opportunity to participate in sports.”

This grant comes after the partners announced, earlier this year, that they would be donating $500,000 to girls youth sports teams across the United States, through “Sports Matter.” The first grant was handed out in Carrie's hometown, Checotah, Oklahoma.

After a meet and greet, Carrie teamed up with her on-the-road fitness trainer, Eve Overland, to lead a workout session and pop-up shop.
