Robert De Niro Is 'Waiting to See’ What Happens with President-elect Trump
Robert De Niro may be one funny man in the new dark comedy “The Comedian,” but there is one subject he has been serious about lately... the 2016 election. The actor spoke to “Extra's” Charissa Thompson about the outcome and revealed how he feels about President-elect Trump after being very vocal about his disdain for the candidate prior to his election.
De Niro shared, “We are all waiting to see. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure he will do some good things no matter what — Nixon did some good things, too. I'm just waiting, I'm just waiting to see.”
The 73-year-old reflected on the video he made in which he publicly trashed Trump and expressed his desire to punch the Republican. “That's all symbolic anyway. I was only just saying it the way he says it. Hopefully he says those things he doesn't really mean and we're gonna see what he really does now.”
As for the protests that are happening across the country since the election, De Niro predicted that would happen. “[Trump] bragged that was gonna happen if he wasn't nominated, but it's gonna happen with him now. I don't see how it can't — people are so upset.”
