Jennifer Lawrence’s Giving Nature Is Being Honored with Sherry Lansing Award
A-list actress Jennifer Lawrence will be recognized for her philanthropic efforts at The Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Breakfast in December!
Lawrence will be the youngest star to receive the Sherry Lansing Award, which is given to a woman who has been a pioneer and leader in her industry.
Last year, she donated a whopping $2 million to create the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Kosair Children's Hospital in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
Lawrence's foundation also lends a helping hand to several charitable organizations, abused and neglected youth, and educational and health organizations.
Sherry Lansing, the former CEO of Paramount Pictures, said in a statement, "Having Jennifer agree to accept the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award is a wonderful honor. In merely a decade, her remarkable professional achievements, her willingness to take risks, and her philanthropic generosity have inspired millions. She reminds young women all over the world that their voices are meant to be heard. The Hollywood Reporter could not have chosen a better individual to recognize.”
Some of the other big names to receive the prestige award include Barbra Streisand, Shonda Rhimes, Oprah Winfrey, Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Halle Berry, Jodie Foster, Glenn Close, Barbara Walters and Tina Fey.
Angelina Jolie is also set to deliver the keynote speech at the star-studded event, where scholarships will be given to young women from disadvantaged backgrounds who have taken part in THR's Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program.
