Paula Patton’s Shocking New Allegations Against Robin Thicke — His Lawyer Responds
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton's custody dispute just got even uglier, with Patton leveling accusations of physical abuse.
Patton has formally accused the “Blurred Lines” singer of domestic violence.
In Patton's declaration obtained by “Extra," she noted numerous occasions when Thicke was violent with her. In one alleged episode, she shared, "Robin became physically violent with me. He pushed me down and kicked me.”
As TMZ first reported, a judge found Robin "has a history of domestic violence.” Thicke's lawyers counter that Paula is also being investigated by the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services for emotional abuse.
Along with physical and emotional abuse, Patton has accused Thicke of infidelity and drug and alcohol addiction, requesting a restraining order against him, which was granted by an L.A. judge. In the new order, Thicke must stay 100 yards clear of the former couple's 6-year-old son Julian, Paula, and Paula's mom.
Paula's lawyer had argued, "[Patton] is in reasonable apprehension of imminent serious bodily injury to herself and the child.”
In the documents, Patton also detailed why she was worried about Robin being alone with Julian, saying, "Given Robin's history of hitting me with a closed fist, pushing me onto the ground and kicking me, I had no doubt he was capable of hitting Julian, particularly after having used cocaine, alcohol or whatever other substances with which he is presently involved.”
Thicke denies Patton's allegations, saying in his own declaration, "On a very rare occasion and only as a last resort, I will use light spanking, but it is consistent with the law — open hand on the butt. This is the type of discipline to which Paula and I agreed during our marriage.”
Thicke's attorney responded to the papers, telling People magazine, “Paula never reported any domestic violence until she was in a position of contempt by violating the custody orders. DCFS asked both Paula and Robin to drug test. Robin agreed and submitted to his test, but Paula refused to test. Infidelity has nothing to do with custody. She is attempting to throw anything at him to hurt him, but Robin's focus is their son.”
Patton has full custody of Julian until the next hearing, which is scheduled for February 24. Thicke will be able to see Julian with supervised visits at a neutral site.
As for why she didn't split with Robin until 2014, Patton explained, "I wanted to leave Robin but at the same time, I was incredibly fearful of angering him, and I did not want our son to grow up in a broken home. I was afraid of Robin's volatility, his retribution. He would often threaten that he would leave both of us penniless given IRS tax liens incurred by him during the course of the marriage.”
Patton's cheating accusations include accusing Thicke of telling her “he had unprotected sex with seven other women.” Just before they called it quits, she claims she found him in bed with two naked women.
