Elton John Explains Farewell Tour, Plus: His ‘Extra’ Grammys Collision with Cyndi Lauper
At Sunday's Grammy Awards, it was a star collision when music legends Cyndi Lauper and Elton John got to catch up on the red carpet while talking to “Extra's” AJ Calloway.
Elton just announced his farewell tour this week, explaining, “We thought about it two and a half years ago. It's taken us two and a half years to make the announcement — it takes that much preparation. I've been touring all my life, I have been on the road my whole life, I have two young children, two sons, that I want to spend time with. I'd rather spend time with them than do a show.”
But fans have no need to worry about Elton's departure just yet, since the tour will last three years!
Elton was accompanied by husband David Furnish as he gets ready to take the stage with Miley. He dished, “I am performing 'Tiny Dancer' with Miley Cyrus, and I've never sung with her. I am really looking forward to it. I've always loved her, and we [had] a ball rehearsing, doing sound check and everything like that. I didn't really know her, but I get on with her like a house on fire. She is such a great woman — she's 25 now, she is a great woman.”
