Scarlett Johansson Talks ‘Marriage Story,’ Relating to Character Who ‘Lost Herself’
Scarlett Johansson looked stunning in Louis Vuitton as she hit the L.A. premiere of her newest film “Marriage Story” solo.
“Extra's” Mark Wright was with the star as she explained that her fiancé, “Saturday Night Live's” Colin Jost, was working. With the couple planning their wedding, Mark asked how she would feel about her comedian beau writing his vows. She joked, “He's a writer, so maybe he can write everybody's vows.”
In “Marriage Story,” Scarlett plays a woman going through a grueling divorce.
Johansson was going through her own divorce from Romain Dauriac while making the movie.
She told Mark she could relate to her character, explaining, “I could understand what it's like to be a woman who has kind of lost herself.” She went on, “Everybody, one way or another, has had that kind of relationship, I think, where... it's run its course.”
Her portrayal is already getting big Oscar buzz. How does she feel about it? “I don't know. It's hard to have a perspective on that. I've been working for such a long time… It was really a creatively rewarding experience making this film.”
“Marriage Story” opens in theaters November 6.
