Céline Dion Will Reportedly Return to Perform in Vegas a Day After René Angélil’s Funeral
UPDATE: Céline Dion is set to return to her Las Vegas residency on February 23, one month after René Angélil's death.
It has been reported that Céline Dion will be returning to the stage in Las Vegas this Saturday.
Though she's mourning the death of husband René Angélil, she is honoring his last wishes. A source told People, "That's what René would want. He wants her to perform and come back. He knew her better than anybody and he probably knows that's what she needs, too, to perform.”
If Céline does perform on Saturday, it will be just one day after René's funeral, which will take place at Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, where they tied the knot 21 years earlier.
Céline is apparently having a hard time coming to terms with his death, so music could be the perfect remedy. An insider said, "Her heart is in pieces. She's extremely heartbroken.” She also lost her brother Daniel, just two days after René's passing.
