How Lin-Manuel Miranda Kept Himself Busy Before Pulitzer Prize Announcement

It was a big day for Broadway sensation Lin-Manuel Miranda. His hit show, “Hamilton,” won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, something no musical has won since 2010.

Earlier in the day, the always humble Miranda and his father, Luis A. Miranda, Jr., were on hand to receive the Fairy Godfather Awards from Girl Be Heard, a girl-led social justice theatre company.

Just before the Pulitzer news broke, “Extra's” AJ Calloway caught up with Lin at the luncheon, where he revealed he was just trying to stay busy. He said, “I got work… I'm in the studio working on a Disney song at three o'clock, so we'll see what happens.”

The composer and actor is still trying to grasp the huge success of “Hamilton.” He revealed, “My son was born two weeks before we started rehearsals on 'Hamilton,' so I measure the surreality of life on his life. He's a year and a half old now, so it's been an incredible, incredible year and a half.”

His 2016 could get even more fantastic with the Tony nominations, which will be announced May 3. “We'll see what happens. I'm certainly excited. I hope we get the chance to perform. Performing at the Grammys was a real thrill, and the Tonys is a whole other thing.”
