Over the weekend, the Oscar winner sat down with “Extra's” Renee Bargh to set the record straight about a gone-viral rumor that he fought off a 15-foot shark threatening his wife Christine off the coast of their beachfront Santa Barbara home. He told Renee, “Well, half the story is true.”
Costner explained, “My wife was on a paddleboard with a friend about seven months ago and a big 12-footer came at her about 30 yards off our beach... It came by her about a foot off the side.” He went on, “She said it displaced the water and and lifted her… and Christine went in to shore and was just really shaken.'
He revealed he actually wasn't there when the incident happened. “She told me while I was in London making 'Criminal'… which was really a helpless feeling.”
Costner is co-starring alongside Ryan Reynolds, Tommy Lee Jones, and Gary Oldman in “Criminal.” He described his character, “You see his kind of prison instincts come out, matched with a CIA operative's abilities, and which ones he decided to use have many different results.”
Despite his busy schedule, the 61-year-old has been able to stay up to date on what is going on in the presidential race. He commented, “I find it embarrassing. I find it highly immature. I think America is really teetering at a low point with the way we talk to each other.”
