Why Stars Wore a Blue Ribbon on the Oscars Red Carpet

While viewers around the world are glued to Oscar coverage to check out all the beauty and fashion, there is a stand-out statement piece some of the celebrities are wearing — and it speaks volumes.
Several stars have been spotted wearing pale blue ribbons with the letters “ACLU” in white, showing their support for the American Civil Liberties Union.
The ACLU launched the Stand with ACLU campaign this week. In a timely display of banding together in the recent political climate, the stars are helping to spread the organization's mission “to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States.”
Those wearing the ribbons are supporting the ongoing efforts of the ACLU as they continue to protect the rights of anyone being kept out of the United States as a result of President Trump's controversial travel ban.
