View StoryIn an Instagram post Friday — alongside a glowing photo of herself with a smiling Jameson — the rock star told fans, "Two weeks ago my three-year old son, Jameson, and I are were showing symptoms of COVID-19. Fortunately, our primary care physician had access to tests and I tested positive. My family was already sheltering at home and we continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor."
She waited to come forward until she had good news: "Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative."
Not satisfied that her own family is okay, P!nk decried the response to the pandemic, writing, "It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible. This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities."
Putting her money where her mouth is, P!nk will donate $500,000 to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia in honor of her mother, Judy Moore, who worked there for 18 years. She is giving another $500,000 to the City of Los Angeles Mayor's Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund.
"THANK YOU to all of our healthcare professionals and everyone in the world who are working so hard to protect our loved ones. You are our heroes! These next two weeks are crucial: please stay home. Please. Stay. Home.❤️," she wrote in closing.
On Sunday, P!nk shared more about her experience with the coronavirus on the “Chat and Feed” Instagram Live series with Jen Pastiloff, which raises money to help families buy groceries. Donate here!
The singer said, "We have been really, really sick," adding that they feel better now. “My 3-year-old, Jameson, has had the worst of it. I've had many nights where I've cried and I've never prayed more in my life."
P!nk started journaling their symptoms, and said Jameson suffered "a fever for three weeks and diarrhea and then constipation and then throwing up and pale and listless and lethargic and all the things that scare the bejeezus out of you as a mama."
Calling the experience a “roller coaster,” she said even weeks later, Jameson still has a 100-degree temperature.
The Grammy winner has a pre-existing asthma condition, and said, “It's been really up and down, and I've been on nebulizers for the first time in 30 years.”
She added, "It got really, really scary, I'm not gonna lie."
P!nk is the latest in a long line of public figures to battle COVID-19. As of Monday, the U.S. has logged more than 350,000 cases with more than 10,000 deaths.
