Abby Lee Miller Pleads Guilty in Bankruptcy Fraud Case
“Dance Moms” star Abby Lee Miller pled guilty to bankruptcy fraud and failing to report an international monetary transaction.
Miller's lawyers said in a statement, "Sentencing in this case will occur after the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit resolves United States v. Free, a similar case addressing the issue of sentencing in a 'zero loss' bankruptcy. Throughout this case, Miss Miller has taken both the allegations and the proceedings very seriously. This has been a challenging time for Miss Miller. She appreciates the words of encouragement and support from around the world.”
Last fall, Miller was indicted for concealment of bankruptcy assets, bankruptcy fraud, and false bankruptcy declarations for hiding about $775,000 after her bankruptcy filing. She was also accused of smuggling around $120,000 into America from Australia with the use of plastic Ziploc bags, which were put into her group's luggage.
Miller could be facing two to three years in jail after pleading guilty, but her lawyers are asking for a maximum of six months. She'll be sentenced on October 11.
